Terms of Service for Field Monitor for Camera

These Terms of Service govern your use of Field Monitor for Camera (“Field Monitor”), an app provided by CodeInFaith. By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using Field Monitor, you agree to these Terms.

About Field Monitor

Field Monitor turns an iPhone, iPad, or Android phone or tablet into a camera field monitor. It shows video from a UVC capture card or USB camera and provides monitoring tools such as focus peaking, punch-in, zebras, false color, a spot meter, waveform, histogram, vectorscope, LUT preview, guides and masks, anamorphic de-squeeze, camera profiles, Director View, and audio level meters.

Field Monitor does not turn a USB-C port into an HDMI input on its own. Showing an HDMI signal requires a UVC capture card and suitable cables.

Acceptance of Terms

You accept these Terms when you install, use, or purchase anything in Field Monitor. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use Field Monitor on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you can accept these Terms for it.

Hardware, Compatibility, and Permissions

Field Monitor depends on hardware and software we do not control, including your device and its operating system, USB-C port and USB host support, UVC capture card or USB camera, camera, cables, power, and supported video formats. We do not guarantee that Field Monitor works with every device, UVC capture card, USB camera, camera, resolution, frame rate, or setup. Video protected by HDCP may not display.

The app asks for camera access to use your UVC capture card or USB camera, and for microphone (audio input) access to play the audio it delivers. On Android it also asks for USB access.

Monitoring Tools and Accuracy

Field Monitor’s monitoring tools are aids, not calibrated measurement instruments. Readings from false color, the spot meter, zebras, waveform, histogram, and vectorscope are based on the video signal your UVC capture card or USB camera delivers to the app, which can depend on the camera, capture card, and video settings. Built-in LUTs are approximations for previewing log footage and may not match a camera maker’s own LUTs or your final grade. Always confirm critical focus, exposure, and color with your camera and your own workflow.

User Responsibilities

You agree to use Field Monitor lawfully and responsibly. You must not:

  • Use the app to view or share content in a way that violates law, privacy rights, copyrights, or other rights.
  • Rely on the app in safety-critical, emergency, medical, aviation, navigation, or other high-risk situations where a failure could cause injury, damage, or loss.
  • Reverse engineer, modify, copy, resell, or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.
  • Interfere with the app, the app stores, or purchase systems.

You are responsible for any LUT files you import and for having the right to use them.

Free Use, Pro, and In-App Purchases

Field Monitor can be used for free with daily free monitoring time and a set of free tools. Field Monitor Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks unlimited monitoring time and Pro tools as described in the app or store listing at the time of purchase. Features, the amount of free time, pricing, and availability may change over time.

Purchases are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Your payment, taxes, purchase confirmation, Family Sharing, restore behavior, and purchase records are governed by that store’s terms. Pro is tied to the store account used to buy it.

Refunds

Refunds and billing disputes are handled by the app store you bought from, under its policies. We do not control those decisions. For help with Field Monitor itself, contact us using the details below.

Intellectual Property

Field Monitor, including its software, design, text, graphics, built-in LUTs, and branding, is owned by CodeInFaith or its licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. Camera and log format names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

Third-Party Services

Field Monitor relies on third-party software and services, including app stores, operating systems, Firebase, and hardware drivers. They have their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for services or hardware we do not control.

Disclaimers

Field Monitor is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, compatibility, accuracy, uninterrupted operation, and error-free performance. We do not guarantee that the app will always detect your UVC capture card or USB camera, keep a signal, avoid latency or dropped frames, or produce accurate readings.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CodeInFaith is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, footage, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from or related to your use of Field Monitor, including missed or unusable shots.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims related to Field Monitor will not exceed the amount you paid for the app or Pro in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars, whichever is greater.

Suspension or Termination

You may stop using Field Monitor at any time. We may suspend or end access to the app or related services if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk, broken the law, or interfered with the app or purchase systems.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Field Monitor after updated Terms are posted means you accept them.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Unless a dispute must be handled by an app store or another mandatory process, disputes will be brought in the courts located in California, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
